Spring has sprung and that means the two key channel practioner-focused learning and networking events of the year are coming up: SiriusDecisions Summit and ChannelFocus North America.
As opposed to countless other ‘channel centric’ events, these two are specifically centered on the channel supplier professional rather than folks that work for channel partners (like Comptia, ChannelPartners, Xchange, etc).
I think it’s safe to say that attending each of these – at least once - is a right-of-passage type of thing for folks working in Partner Marketing, Partner Sales and Channel Ops roles. The Webinfinity team is proud to be sponsoring both this year, so be sure to drop by our booth and say hi. Besides enjoying some nice locations, here are some tips on getting the most out of these shows.
I like this event for the channel pro because you get a ton of great channel best practices education and tips, but also learn a lot in other areas like product marketing, field marketing/field sales, marketing operations and general sales enablement. The analysts at Sirius are some of the most channel and marketing savvy folks in the world and have incredibly useful models for how to build, structure and run a partner program. There is a special ‘channel track’ you can sign up for, and Maria, Kathy, and the rest of the Sirius gang are extremely tuned in to what the worlds most advanced partner programs are doing to stay ahead of the pack.
Don’t miss: Maria’s annual channel programs awards ceremony toward the end of the show. She provides an inside look into how some of the most innovative channel programs in the world are pushing the envelope and trying new things to give their programs an edge. Also, Kathy Contreras will be introducing some new channel best practices content, and no one should ever miss a presentation from Kathy on Channel best practices! (BTW see our joint webinar event with Kathy on mapping your channel personas and partner journey here)
I’ve had the fortune of attending CFNA both as a practitioner and later as a service provider. The peer-to-peer workshops make this the ultimate show for learning from your peers at other programs about how they are tackling their toughest challenges. Session presentations at this conference go to a whole ‘nother level of depth in exploring all aspects of channel strategy and partner management best practice. Senior leaders from the world’s top - and most innovative - partner programs come to share how they are approaching what they do, so it’s a great opportunity to learn from – and network with – the best in the business.
Don’t miss: As I mentioned, don’t miss the peer workshops. These are small roundtable discussions on key channel management areas, where you can bring your biggest challenges and questions and get real answers to the issues that matter to you. I got so much useful insight out of these when I first attended this show it was ridiculous.
If you work in channel, don’t let this time of year pass by without attending at least one of these shows. And don’t forget to drop by the Webinfinity booth to say hi! I’ll be circling back in a few weeks with some key takeaways and ‘aha moments’ from these shows. Hope to see you there!
